Alexandra Kontos is one of the founding members of Walker Kontos and is currently the Senior Partner of the Firm. She has qualified as an Advocate in three jurisdictions and has practised in Kenya as a corporate and commercial lawyer since 1979. Alexandra is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya) Chapter as well as a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths.
Alexandra specialises in corporate and commercial work with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions including transnational acquisitions and in banking and corporate finance. She has led the legal teams involved in the establishment of joint ventures, as well as in mergers, acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructuring, and management buy-outs in Kenya, the East Africa region and Ghana. She has also variously advised on all kinds of banking and financial transactions. Alexandra is also an experienced property and insurance lawyer.
Alexandra is fluent in English, Greek, French, Italian and Amharic, all of which she reads and writes and has been recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global, IFLR and Legal 500.

- Advised and acted for the International Finance Corporation in relation to a loan facility to Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Limited secured by Charges over immovable properties for US$ 12 million.
- Advised Bank of Africa Kenya Limited in relation to a term loan of US$ 25,000,000 from FMO for on lending to eligible sub-borrowers in Kenya.
- Acted for the International Finance Corporation with respect to a loan of US$ 100,000,000.00 to Equity Bank Limited, a bank licensed and operating in Kenya.
- Advised and acted for the International Finance Corporation in relation to a loan facility to Vegpro Ghana Limited secured by a Charge over immovable properties by Vegpro Kenya Limited for US$ 7 million.
- Acted for PTA Bank in relation to project financing of K.Shs. 556,300,000.00 to Family Finance Bank in relation to the Bank’s conversion and for financing of ATM’s and core banking software and hardware upgrades.
- Acted for PTA Bank in the granting of a loan facility to Alliance One Tobacco (Kenya) Limited over stocks and receivables for US$ 22,000,000.00

- Acted for BOA West Africa, Banque Marocaine du Commerce Exterieur and Bank of Africa Ghana in relation to a subscription of shares in the latter by Development Finance Institution.
- Advised Bank of Africa Benin in the acquisition of the shares of Aureos Africa Fund LLC and Aureos East Africa Bank LLC in Bank of Africa Kenya Limited.
- Acted for BOA West Africa, a company registered in Cote d’Ivoire in the acquisition of the shares of Aureos East Africa Fund LLC in Bank of Africa (Tanzania) Limited.
- Acted for African Financial Holding Ocèan Indien SA, a company registered in Mauritius in the acquisition of the shares of Aureos East Africa Fund LLC in Bank of Africa Uganda Limited.
